Family Support Program case manager Tara Joyce has been quietly reaching out beyond the Catherine McAuley Center’s housing programs to provide spare resources to the unhoused and at-risk residents in Scranton’s Pine Brook neighborhood for 20 years.

Joining Tara in her latest outreach event on Nov. 9, were Center intern Kerry and two students from the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine who have been volunteering at the Center this past year, Sophie and Julia. Items distributed include blankets, hats and gloves, hand-warmers, personal hygiene products, and food.

The outreach was made possible with the support of Jerry Richardson from the Pine Brook Deli and Market, where the items were distributed. Located at 837 Capouse Avenue in Scranton, the market is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
