Permanent Supportive Housing


The Catherine McAuley Center operates scattered site residences for eight (8) homeless persons, primarily women, with disabilities. This program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and is part of Lackawanna County’s Continuum of Care for the Homeless.

Purpose

To enable homeless persons, primarily women, with disabilities and limited income to obtain safe, decent and affordable housing. The Program is designed to offer strong case management, supportive services and rental assistance in order to ensure an environment by which the clients can experience independence and self-sufficiency.

Eligibility

Unaccompanied, single person with disabling conditions who has been homeless for at least one continuous year or who has had four (4) episodes of homelessness in the past three (3) years. Applicants are expected to become goal oriented and to be desirous of self-sufficient living in an apartment.

  • the formulation of short and long term goals that would lead to independent, satisfying self-sufficient living in a permanent housing setting.

  • shopping and transportation needs.
  • All services are provided free of charge.
